Rethinking Gender Laws: Rights, Safety, and Social Impact

A 60-minute session on how India's rules about men and women land in everyday life: the scan where the doctor won't say, the flat in the wife's name, the office cab that only drops the women, the six-month wait for a divorce, the box on every form for the father's name. Who do these rules help, who do they leave out, and what can a law really change at home? Twelve independent cards; open three or four.

The opening question

If you were ever in a serious dispute with someone close to you, who would you call first: a parent, a friend, or a lawyer?

Everyone in the room answers this in one line before any card is opened. Write the answers down; you will come back to them.
