WhatsApp Guidelines
Keeping the groupworth reading.
The WhatsApp community is where we stay connected between discussions — updates, follow-up materials, prompts, and the occasional conversation that couldn't wait. These guidelines keep it useful.
What the group is for
Discussion updates
Upcoming sessions, schedule changes, and Google Meet links.
Follow-up material
Resources, reading, and prompts shared after sessions for deeper exploration.
Thoughtful exchange
Continuing conversations from sessions or sharing ideas that connect to what we discuss.
Event coordination
In-person meetup announcements, RSVPs, and logistics.
This is not a social group for general chatting, forwards, memes, or unrelated content.
Posting etiquette
Do
- ✓Keep messages relevant to discussions, ideas, or forum updates
- ✓Prioritize quality over quantity
- ✓Explain context before sharing a link or resource
- ✓Continue thoughtful exchanges from recent sessions
- ✓Share prompts, questions, or articles that make people think
Don't
- ✕Forward messages, memes, or chain texts
- ✕Share political propaganda or unrelated news
- ✕Post excessively — say it once, say it well
- ✕Share promotional or commercial content
- ✕Drop links without context or explanation
Respectful interaction
Maintain a respectful tone at all times — even in disagreement
No hate speech, trolling, sarcasm, or personal attacks
Disagreements are welcome when they're thoughtful and constructive
Do not DM other members without first asking in the group if they're okay with it
Be mindful of posting times — try to keep activity between 8 AM – 10 PM IST
Privacy & confidentiality
Do not quote or screenshot group messages outside the group without permission
Treat conversations as semi-private — the informal tone doesn't mean anything goes
Personal information shared by members stays within the community
Admin role
Admins share announcements, session links, and prompts
Admins can remove members who violate guidelines or disrupt the culture
Reach out to admins privately and respectfully if you have concerns
On religion and belief
Same principles as in discussions — inquiry is welcome, ideology is not.
Welcomed
- ✓Historical or cultural context — factual, non-judgmental
- ✓Philosophical or moral insights from texts
- ✓Personal inspiration from spiritual practices
- ✓Neutral comparative analysis across traditions
Not allowed
- ✕Derogatory language toward any faith or scripture
- ✕Stereotyping entire religious communities
- ✕Proselytizing or condemning other beliefs
- ✕Language designed to provoke hostility
Gray areas
- ◇Criticizing harmful actions — not the religion itself
- ◇Academic quoting with neutral context (use sparingly)
- ◇Satire aimed at systems or hypocrisy — not sacred beliefs
Removal & rejoining
Members who violate these guidelines may face temporary or permanent removal from the group. Rejoining requires a review by the moderators.
These guidelines exist to protect the culture, not to police it. If everyone treats the space the way they'd want it treated, none of this needs enforcing.
