Workplace Silence: How open are we allowed to be at work?
A reflective look at the gap between the openness our workplaces invite and the openness we actually feel safe offering. We're told to "bring our whole self to work," to speak up, to be authentic — but how many of us actually run a quiet calculation before saying anything personal in a meeting, a Slack message, or a one-on-one? What's safe to reveal, what could be held against us later, and who taught us to think that way in the first place? This session sits with that gap instead of rushing to close it.
How we do this
Be respectfulDisagree with the point, never the person.
Raise your hand to speakSo nobody has to talk over anybody.
Keep it shortSay the thing, then let the next person in.
Discussion is encouragedReply to each other, not just to the question.
Tangents are allowedIf the room follows it, it is the discussion.
This is a safe spaceWhat is said here stays in the room.
